Hello world!

23 December 2005 | Whatever

Searching for pictures? The Gallery is now integrated and ready for your viewing pleasure. For those of you with questions about what themes we used, here is a brief explination…

I use the Cutline Theme for WordPress with the WordPressEmbeded Theme for Gallery2. I use the custom wpg2header.php option to remove the sidebars and get the page title from G2. I also had to make changes to the top navigation so that it looks like the other pages (ie current page is in Green font)

One last thing, like many WP themes the sidebar was called from the Index, Page and Post php files so I moved that portion to the footer and made a custom WPG2footer that omits the call for a sidebar. This was probably an unnecessary step since I don’t use the sidebar within the gallery pages but now you know.

I also use the squarethumb module in G2 for a more uniform look.

    Hello,
I, too, am trying to embed Gallery2 into my Cutline theme. I see you’ve managed to pull it off. May I ask what Gallery theme you’re using?
    Thanks,
    Krzysztof

Hi – Awesome site – I’ve been trying to do something very similar for the past several days and I’m failing miserably. Can you provide more details on the customization that you had to do to make it work? Any help is appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Mark

Me Again – I feel like I’m following in your footsteps 🙂 How did you fix the navigation bar so that when the gallery page is the current page it is green like the others?

    Thanks,
    Mark

Nice looking photo blog. Now if I can just translate your changes so they work for a multi-user version of WordPress, I can let all my users have similar advantages.

    Beutiful blog!

I am trying to do something similar at http://www.roamingtheoceans.com — but having a couple of problems that I can’t find solutions for in the respective forums, perhaps you can point me in the right direction??

    (i) In the gallery, inside an album, the next/previous/last/first buttons are not alligned with the grey backround — do you have any clues as towhere I should look to fix this?

    (ii) You said above

I also had to make changes to the top navigation so that it looks like the other pages (ie current page is in Green font)

how did you do this? I’ve been fumbling around in the style.css and header.php files but to no availe….

A thousand thank-yous for any help you can lend me 🙂

There have been many requests for help in getting Cutline to work with Gallery2 (via WPG2)

Alyin (from the WPG2 forum) has optimized Cutline for WPG2. You can download his version HERE. There are a couple of differences between our two versions but I haven’t compared them in great detail yet. One key diference is that in my embedded gallery I kept the WP sidebar where he did not. Once I compare the two and make any changes to mine, I will make a suggestion to the theme author to include the changed files in the theme.
