Fruit of the Spirit

26 May 2011 | Kids,Whatever,Worship

I have been having discipline issues with my oldest son. He’s 3 1/2 years old. Through the power of prayer, I knew I needed to go to the Word (the Bible) because the Word is the living a breathing word of God and has answers to all our concerns. Galatians 5:16-25 spoke to me and I knew educating my son and myself about the fruit of the Spirit would give us a better understanding of God and our need for the Spirit if we wanted to conquer sin issues living in our hearts. The fruit of the Spirit isn’t foreign to me, but God always has a way of revealing new truths when we go back and study his Word.

“If we live by the Spirit, let us also walk by the Spirit.” Galatians 5:25

Everyday since starting this study, we’ve gone back to Galatians 5:16-25. When I’m dealing with disobedience, praise, anger, etc…this scripture has been a huge help with my son. Even though my son isn’t that excited to learn these lesson now, he will one day. That’s what teaching our children is all about-right? They might not always want to learn, but it’s our duty to do so (Dueteronomy 6:7, Psalm 34:11).
