Easter Sunday 2013

Happy Resurrection Sunday! We ended up spending half the day sharing the gospel with our children because of discipline issues. As hard as it can be at times, it is so important to share the gospel with our kids and walk them through repentance. Makes me so thankful for Gods everlasting love and sacrifice because I know that even as an adult I can throw silly tantrums, forget to spend time in his word and will constantly struggle with sin.

“…Jesus came and stood in the midst, and said to them, “Peace be with you.” 20 When He had said this, He showed them His hands and His side. Then the disciples were glad when they saw the Lord.

21 So Jesus said to them again, “Peace to you! As the Father has sent Me, I also send you.” 22 And when He had said this, He breathed on them, and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit. 23 If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven them; if you retain the sins of any, they are retained.” John 20:19-23

Bonnet -Take 2

When I get a little time to myself I enjoy creating. After my first bonnet turned out well I decided to try my hand at a second one. This one is also used with scraps I had and decided to try a different interfacing this time. I love the color combinations in this one. It’s approx 12 months or 17″ head? I might need to double check the measures. I think the next step is to take a photo of a baby wearing one of my hats. Too bad my boys are too old and totally not interested:)

Hipster Party

Even though most things I post are sewing items, I do love paper crafts. One of my favorite online sites to find cuts outs and such is Lettering Delights. Just today I found this to die for party pack and had to share just a few things that come with this set.

Decorating Cupcakes

Benjamin chose cupcakes for his birthday dessert and both boys got to decorate their own. Both of them loved dumping sprinkles all over the top and Benjamin’s favorite part was eating the top and leaving the bottoms. Don’t blame him. Frosting is the sweetest part.

Floral Bonnet

I have had this pattern in my box for way too long. I kept thinking I’d get around to it and I never did…Until yesterday. I challenged myself to finish a bonnet and I did. Patterns are not so easy for me, but I feel so good when I am finished and my finished product looks almost like the photo. I still need to practice, but now I’ve done it once and hope to make more. Too bad my boys don’t want to wear one. Ha!

Benjamin is 3 years old

BenjaminTurns3 (1024x683)
My littlest turned three today. Unbelievable! I love him so much. He is such a mama’s boy and I wouldn’t trade his hugs and cuddles for anything. He is so sweet and will hold open a door for me. I love hearing his sweet “You’re welcome!” and “Anx (thanks)”. He loves his brother so much and mimics almost everything. When he’s mad he will wrestle his big brother to the ground until Corbin gives in, yells or pouts and says “I’m angry” while he sits in the corner. So hard not to smile during those times. He loves the swings, digging in the dirt, exploring new parks, pirates, Hot Wheels, trains and his most recent movie favorites are The Iron Giant, Monsters Verses Aliens and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. Potty training will be a main focus this year. I’m sure I’m way more excited about that than he is.

Pieces of Hope Dot Birthday Set

I created this custom set recently for a client. I love that this fabric, Pieces of Hope Dot by Riley Blake, is not just going to be cherished by the family that purchased the set, but will also be used to increase autism awareness through my purchase. We all should do our part in helping others and I’m glad I can contribute even in a small way.

Pieces of Hope was inspired by a child with autism, whose family are employees of Riley Blake Designs. Autism Speaks and Riley Blake Designs thank you for your support, which provides hope for all those affected by autism.
