Deeper Roots

I am part of an amazing online mommies group and most of the women I knew back in San Diego. We encourage, challenge and walk through life with each other. Life can get tough, but having godly friends to help me on life’s journey sure makes the struggles and joys so much better.

My biggest prayer is that my roots will become deeper in the word and that my children will do the same. I know that with the holy spirit guiding me, I can take on the task of teaching my children to know and love Christ.

“When I think of all this, I fall to my knees and pray to the Father,
the Creator of everything in heaven and on earth. I pray that from his
glorious, unlimited resources he will empower you with inner strength through
his Spirit. Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in
him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong. And may
you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how
long, how high, and how deep his love is. May you experience the love of
Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made
complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God.

Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within
us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think. Glory to him in
the church and in Christ Jesus through all generations forever and ever! Amen.”
Ephesians 3:14-21

For the past two weeks I’ve been challenged to be a godly example to my children and to show Jesus to my children through the word. God tells us to “Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it” Proverbs 22:6. This is so much harder than it sounds, but so incredibly important. Don’t we all wish we started our walk earlier? I know I do.

The scriptures that have been on my heart this week to encourage myself and my children are:

“Good sense is a fountain of life to him who has it, but the instruction of fools is folly” Proverbs 16:22

“Gracious words are like a honeycomb, sweetness to the soul and health to the body” Proverbs 16:24

“A joyful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones” Proverbs 17:22

“Good sense makes one slow to anger, and it is his glory to overlook an offense” Proverbs 19:11

“A wise son hears his father’s instruction” Proverbs 13:1

“Whoever spares the rod hates his son, but he who loves him is diligent to discipline him” Proverbs 13:24

Apple Hill

Saturday we drove an hour east on the 50 to Apple Hill. Luke suggested we go and I’m so glad we did. Apple Hill reminded me so much of Julian, a place back in San Diego were we’d go in the fall to go apple picking, eat apple pie, enjoy the countryside and small shops. We spent the day taking in the views, eating treats, orchard hopping, wandering thru bale mazes and petting farm animals. The mugginess and heat couldn’t steal our fun. It really couldn’t have been a better day.

Fun Afternoon

The kids and I kidnapped Luke from work one Friday afternoon and took him to Mel’s for lunch and then had some fun at the spray park and playground at Promentory Park in El Dorado Hills. Luke appreciated the spontaneous gesture and the bathing suit and flip flops were an added bonus. Thanks, hun, for playing along. Ha!
