Christmas 2009

Christmas couldn’t have come at a better time. We were so blessed to spend time with our families and to take a rest from the everyday. This past year has been such a whirlwind and almost felt like we would miss or skip Christmas all together if we blinked too fast. Thankfully that wasn’t the case and we were able to enjoy great food and great company on Christmas Eve and Christmas day with my side of the family. Even my Grandma came from AZ. Saturday we drove up (Luke, Corbin & I) to visit the Shiras family for a couple of days and exchanged gifts. We had a laid back time and spent most of our time eating, talking, taking short walks, playing games (Luke brought his Wii which was a big hit), and watching movies. Oh, and Corbin was totally spoiled this year. The best part for me was seeing him get excited about opening his gifts because in the past he had never shown that much interest in the wrapping. Kids are so much fun!

Thank you Jesus for being born and for being our Savior! We love you!

Holly Turns 3!

Corbin was invited to Holly’s 3rd birthday party. It was at the Old Poway Park in Poway. Too bad the trains were closed for maintenance, but the kids didn’t mind one bit. They loved all the leaves and sticks, the train tracks and the different paths they could explore. Happy Birthday, Holly!

Getting our move on!

Today is the big day! Moving day! The boxes are packed and Luke is on his way to pick up doughnuts, drop off Corbin and pick up the moving van. I’m holding down the fort, or condo, which ever you prefer. We’re expecting many friends to lend a helping hand and they should be arriving within the next half hour. Oh my! It’s hard to believe today is the day. I’m looking forward to our new home (not so much for me since we’re moving in with my folks), new neighborhood, new neighbors. Thank you Lord for walking us through this journey. We’ve learned so much including patience and humility which we are so grateful for. You’re love and provision blankets us and is a shield like no other. Thank you also to all our friends and family for all your support and prayers!

Keeping Warm

I received my order from Old Navy today and it couldn’t have come at a better time since we’re moving to the mountains in a few days. Old Navy was having a great sale online, so I bought Corbin some winter pants, a pair of red slippers and a thick winter coat. At first Corbin was hesitant to try anything on, but after putting on his slippers and coat, he hasn’t wanted to take them off. Not like it’s that cold in my house, he just really likes his coat and slippers. He even kept the hood on and hardly ever wears hats and even when he does it’s only for a few minutes at the most.

Sison Wedding

November 27th I had the pleasure of being the wedding photographer at a friends wedding. I will admit that this was my first big wedding and the pressure was on. I had done two previous weddings a few years back, but they were much smaller in scale and the photos were a favor and not for profit. I had reason to be nervous, but welcomed the challenge. It was a good thing too because I think I had almost every challenge I could have possibly imagined. There was the first time wedding photographer jitters, time constraints, fog, noon sun glare on the beach, inside reception (I do mostly natural light photography) where they kept opening and closing the curtains, camera malfunction, flash malfunction, my first time working with an assistant photographer, etc. With all that, I got through the day without the slightest sign of fatigue which is amazing since I was a couple days shy of being 6 months pregnant. This wedding was indeed an experience that I am so thankful for. Not only did I get to witness the union of two wonderful people, but I was able to photograph their memories. Thank you Amy and Allan for the opportunity!

First Good Rain

I woke up to the sound of rain and glanced over and noticed it was 8:30am. I immediately got up and started getting ready thinking that Corbin has been sitting in his bed for a good half hour waiting for me to come get him, but when I went into his room he was still sleeping. What a pleasant surprise! This gave me the chance to eat breakfast and enjoy the rain for a little while longer. Such a good start to my morning.

Corbin started his day around 9:15am with breakfast, playtime, and cartoons. Perfect start to any rainy morning. Here are some pictures of our lazy rainy morning.

Corbin is 2!

I decided to take Corbin to the Zoo this year for his birthday and was able to get a few of his playmates to join us. It ended up being a great idea! Grandma (Nana) and my friends Joy, Kathleen, Kimberly as well as their kiddos were able to make it. We walked all over the place and saw lots of animals along the way. It was a great adventure! Kathleen’s son, Ethan, was cracking me up all day too. I’d say “Ethan, look at the monkeys! See the one sitting on the ground?” and he’d respond “Look, squirrel!”. Later I say “Ethan, look at the Hippo! Aren’t they huge!?!” and he promptly said “Hey, look at the ducks!”. Hahaha…. We finally left around 2pm, but not until spending a good 20 minutes looking for something fun for Corbin to take home. Finally Nana decided to buy him 2 toy frogs and a turtle. Corbin was so excited! Corbin was out before we left the parking lot. It was a good day.

Happy Birthday my little man! You make our lives so much fuller. We love and cherish you and can’t wait to see what an amazing big brother you will become.
